Aims Community College invites the public to attend the annual Ag Day Open House on Tuesday, March 19, from 5-7 p.m. at the Fort Lupton Campus, 260 College Avenue.

It is a local celebration of National Ag Day, which recognizes the contribution of agriculture to our lives and to almost everything we eat, use and wear daily.
This free, fun-filled, family-friendly experience explores many aspects of agriculture in Weld County. The event intends to grow appreciation of agriculture and discover local career and educational opportunities.
“We have a strong academic program that wants not only to celebrate but also showcase what is available on the Fort Lupton Aims Campus,” said Agricultural Sciences and Technology Department Chair and Professor Amy McFarland. “Ag Day invites everyone to be part of the agriculture community at Aims.” In addition to the Ag Day Open House, the department hosts other opportunities, such as a spring plant sale in May with plants grown by Aims horticulture students as a fundraiser.
One of the most popular annual Ag Day attractions is the petting farm organized by Aims students for visitors to see farm animals up close. “Witnessing our current students bring agriculture to life for younger kids is so neat,” McFarland said. “Seeing the smiles and enjoyment is amazing!”
Among this year's event's new features is a drone demonstration showcasing precision agriculture and technological advancements in the industry. Another attraction is the Aims CDL simulator, which shows what driving a semi-truck is like in a hands-on simulation. Transportation is vital to the agriculture industry. 
Vendors and community partners are also at the event to provide hands-on activities for attendees. Dairy Max will have a virtual farm tour, allowing visitors to gain insights into modern farming practices. The Tail Twisters 4-H Club will share activities and how youth as early as age five can get involved with agriculture and other areas, such as leathercraft, sewing, knitting, robotics and more.
"Agriculture plays an essential role in maintaining Colorado's strong economy and food security,” said Dr. Leah L. Bornstein, Aims Community College CEO and president. “Aims is training future ag leaders with practices and technologies that make the industry more efficient and sustainable.”
