It's a good safety practice to understand, prepare for and respond to potential emergencies and hazards that can occur on campus.
An active shooter or harmer incident involves one or more person seeking to harm others in a public place, whether with a gun, knife, bomb, vehicle or other means. These situations can be unpredictable and evolve quickly. Before an emergency like this happens, it's a good idea to be aware of your surroundings, including noting all exits to any buildings you enter.
To report an active or suspected active harmer situation, call or text 911.

Aims Community College follows the Standard Response Protocol for all emergency situations, including active attacks. Learn this response protocol before a crisis happens so you can be informed and prepared.
Fire can occur within a building or outdoors. In the arid conditions of Colorado, wildfires are also a risk to structures, animals and people.
If a wildfire places an Aims campus at risk, RAVE notifications will alert you to campus closures and a popup alert will appear at the top of the Aims website.
When you register as a student at Aims, you'll be added to the RAVE notification system via MyAims. Make sure to check your MyAims contact information so you don’t miss emergency notifications from Aims. Keeping your contact information current also allows you to receive weather and emergency closure information.
Depending on the Aims campus you frequent, there is a risk of flooding due to proximity to rivers during heavy rainfall or snow melt. If there is a flooding event that may impact an Aims campus, you'll receive a RAVE alert and a popup alert will show at the top of the Aims website.
The health and safety of Aims Community College students and employees is a priority. Campus Safety and Security continue to monitor federal and local COVID-19 guidance closely and is dedicated to Aims students and employees to ensure our College’s safety.
If there is severe weather or a tornado warning that may impact an Aims campus, you'll receive a RAVE alert and a popup alert will show at the top of the Aims website. Refer to the Standard Response Protocol to stay safe during a tornado incident.
