Disability Access Services (DAS) at Aims Community College collaborates campus-wide to ensure students with disabilities have equal opportunities. DAS promotes an inclusive learning environment through information, resources, education and direct services to students, faculty and staff.
DAS helps students with a documented disability receive the accommodations they need to ensure access, such as extended test time, note-taking, assistive technology and more.
Aims Community College does not discriminate against any student on the basis of pregnancy or related conditions. Absences due to medical conditions relating to pregnancy will be excused for as long as deemed medically necessary by a student’s doctor and students will be given the opportunity to make up missed work.
Any students needing accommodations are encouraged to seek assistance as early as possible by contacting the Disability Access Services (DAS) Office at (970) 339-6565 or disabilities@aims.edu to set up an intake appointment to discuss the process of requesting reasonable accommodations.

Disability Access Services (DAS) offers free academic coaching to students registered with our office. Academic coaching is a tool that helps students identify barriers to academic success. Students work with the academic coach on building skills and using college resources to overcome obstacles. Students will work each session on difficulties they are currently experiencing. Some of the common topics that academic coaching can entail are time management, study skills, communication, test taking, technology, and self-care. Students can meet once a week with an academic coach either in person or online. To request academic coaching, a student can email disabilities@aims.edu or let the advisor know of their interest at the time of their intake appointment.
The Accessibility Lab provides support for students who use adaptive computer equipment and software. Many types of accessibility resources are available including visual support tools and assistive technology that supports reading, writing, math and STEM.

Our accessibility lab is equipped with many visual support tools including JAWS, ZoomText, and NVDA.
Read&Write and EquatIO software is available to all current students and employees at Aims. Both programs are installed on all student-use Mac and PC computers on campus. Students and employees are allowed to install EquatIO on personal devices at home using the same credentials that are used to log into the Aims website. Download these programs at texthelp.com.

Glean is available for qualified students registered with our office. Glean is a note taking program that combines lecture recording, transcripts, slides, and notes into an easy-to-use workspace.
Office 365 is free for students using an @aims.edu e-mail address.
