Veteran Services provides resources and services that support Veterans pursuing their education at Aims Community College. 

Aims is extremely proud of its long-standing relationship with the men and women in uniform who bravely serve this country and is thankful for the sacrifices and commitment of their family members. 

Our mission is to enhance the educational experience of Veterans and eligible family members by providing access to education benefits in a supportive environment. Our staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality, comprehensive support to student Veterans in an atmosphere of commitment, respect and academic excellence.

Veterans Affairs Certified Veteran Services Team at Aims

Aims has multiple School Certifying Officials trained by the VA to handle enrollment requests for all benefit chapters, ensuring benefits are processed correctly and disseminated on time. Additionally, a team of three student employees with knowledge of benefits processing are employed across Aims' campuses to support our Veteran Services team in answering benefit-specific questions. Any questions, comments, or concerns that arise about VA benefits can be directed to the Veteran Services team and will be forwarded to the person best suited to offer support.

Steps for Veterans Pursuing a College Education

Whether you are a first-time college student or a transfer student, your first step is to visit the Admissions link and follow the steps to apply to Aims. Be ready to provide your military transcripts or official transcripts from previous colleges to have prior coursework considered for transfer. 

VA regulations state that all GI Bill® beneficiaries who are Veterans submit prior college and military transcripts to the Aims Community College Registrar’s Office for evaluation. The VA requires all VA-approved learning institutions to have on file a “written record of previous education and training of the eligible person or veteran” (U.S. Code Title 38, Section 3675(b)).

If you are a Veteran of the U.S. Army, Marines, Coast Guard or Navy, you can have your military transcripts sent electronically to Aims by creating an account with the Joint Services Transcript website.

Members of the Air Force can order their Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcripts at the CCAF website and have transcripts mailed to Aims at:

Go to Workday & Sign in -> Select "Requests" from the Menu Icon -> Select "Financial Aid:" VA Benefits Enrollment Certification Request" -> Complete the form and attach a Certificate of Eligibility. 

Once this form is submitted, the School Certifying Official will begin to process your request and will reach out by email with any questions.

How to Submit a VA Certification Request

All students can apply for financial aid by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This aid can be for grants, loans, and/or work-study. 

Many types of scholarships are available based on merit or academics, as well as private and general scholarships by area of interest. Some scholarships are specifically for Veterans. Visit the Financial Aid Scholarships and the Aims Foundation Scholarships pages to learn more. Check with your advisor to be sure your scholarship works well with your Veteran's education benefits.

Aims has over 200 accredited degrees and certificates to choose from.

Your Pathway advisor will help you develop a suitable educational plan, select your courses and determine your major. This person will get to know you and help you gain decision-making skills you will use in your education, career and life choices. Be sure to visit Workday Resources to complete your VA Certification form.

Resources for Veterans

Current students are also eligible to receive up to six free counseling sessions in private offices with qualified counselors on the Greeley, Fort Lupton or Loveland campuses. If you’re struggling with anxiety, stress management, grief and loss, relational conflict, depression, coping strategies, parenting issues or life transitions, we encourage you to contact the counselor at your location to set up an appointment.

Counseling Services

We encourage you to attend Arty's Orientation, which will connect you with the key Aims personnel who can help you successfully start your academic path. Registration is online through your myAims.
