Professional Background
Garret is an adjunct instructor at Aims Community College where he teaches Personnel Management in Public Safety. He also teaches at Galveston College where he teaches Texas Politics and at Wharton County Junior College where he assists with EMS classes. Garret has also taught American Politics at Arizona College of Nursing. He holds licenses/certifications as a Paramedic, Registered Nurse, and Texas Peace Officer. He is a graduate of the Emergency Management Basic Academy from FEMA’s Emergency Management Professional Program. In Garret’s professional career he has worked as a 911 Dispatcher, Reserve Police Officer, Flight Paramedic, Registered Nurse (ER, NICU, & Nursery), Emergency Manager, Paramedic, Asst. EMS Director, and now EMS Director. As EMS Director, he oversees a department of approximately 40 employees that respond to around 3,000 calls a year.
Personal Interests
Garret, his wife Megan, and two children live in El Campo, Texas, outside of Houston. He enjoys volunteering and currently serves as the Vice President for the Gulf Coast CASA board, the Treasurer of the El Campo Deanery ACTS board, and is a board member for the Texas EMS Alliance. He enjoys going to summer camp with his kids where he serves as a volunteer nurse. Garret continues to be in pursuit of higher education and is currently enrolled in the Master of Pastoral Studies program at Holy Apostles College & Seminary.
