Professional Background
I have been teaching at community colleges in Colorado for the past twenty years. I teach Introduction to Political Science, American Government, International Relations, Comparative Government, and recently State and Local Government. I'm new to Aims and am excited to build a stronger Political Science department. In order to accomplish this goal, I have developed new and innovative curriculum. I have also expanded course offerings, both on-campus and online. Fostering civic engagement is one of my top priorities. Students of Political Science will be encouraged to attend college events and participate in community activities. Aims students come from a variety of backgrounds and bring with them an abundance of creativity and enthusiasm. This diversity is the main reason I have chosen to teach in a community college setting throughout my career.
Personal Interests
When at home, I’m usually spending time with my three dogs. The four of us and my husband, Randy, enjoy walking, playing and lounging together. I'm also a tap dancer and have had the opportunity to perform with various dance groups around Denver. I enjoy traveling and recently visited Spain and Belize. I’m a member of the Aims Civic Engagement Council; I hope to see you at one of our upcoming events.
