Consumer Information

The Federal Government requires colleges and universities to disclose certain information to all enrolled students. An email is sent out annually to students that lists the information to be disclosed and refers students to this webpage for details.

Criminal background checks and drug screenings are mandatory for students entering all health-related certificate or degree pathways. Certain offenses may disqualify students from enrollment in these fields. Students should consult the program chair for specific requirements and deadlines.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children's education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level, regardless of the student's age.

  • Vaccination Policy - Aims Community College does not require vaccinations for general admission to the college. However, vaccinations may be required for admission to a specific class or program. Students are responsible for determining if their chosen class or program requires specific vaccinations for admission by contacting the appropriate department.
  • Statement on Mental Wellness and Success - Success in college could be influenced by your personal health and well-being. Recognize that stress is an expected part of the college experience, and can often be compounded by unexpected setbacks or life changes outside the classroom. Aims Community College encourages you to remember that challenges are a common experience on the pathway to success. Reflect on your role in taking care of yourself throughout your college journey, before the demands of exams and projects reach their peak. Please feel free to reach out for help and support. In addition to your academic advisor, we strongly encourage you to contact the many other support services available to assist you. Here are just a couple of resources that may be helpful:

Aims Community College gives public notice of its policy to uphold and assure full compliance with the non-discrimination requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and all related statutes. Title VI requires that no person in the United States of America shall be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, sex, age, national origin, and/or disability.

It is also Aims Community College’s practice to prohibit discrimination based on income status, and/or limited English proficiency (LEP) as addressed in Title VI. For students considering enrolling in a program that leads to professional licensure, Aims Community College strongly recommends you contact the appropriate department or program to determine the educational requirements and whether or not the education provided at Aims Community College will allow you to sit for the applicable licensing exam.

Annual Public Notification – August 2023

Aims is proud to offer educational programs online.

As a regionally accredited public college that participates in federal financial aid programs, Aims works to ensure that it provides students with accurate and complete regulatory information. This includes documenting compliance with the state laws in any state where educational programming is offered as required by the U.S. Department of Education's Program Integrity Rules. Not all states require state-specific authorizations and the activities that require authorization vary from state to state.

National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements

Aims is a participating member in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA). SARA is an agreement among member states, districts, and territories that establish comparable national standards for interstate offering of postsecondary distance education courses and programs. SARA is overseen by the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) and administered by four regional education compacts. For the State of Colorado, this is the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE).  

Once a state has joined SARA, and then subsequently approves a school or college as a participating institution, a university may offer distance education to students residing in SARA participating states. Approved institutions will have no restrictions on advertising, marketing, and program offerings, and minimal restrictions on clinical practice and internships (no greater than 10 students at one location).

Additional measures are required for students that currently reside in a state not participating in SARA.  If you are a student who currently resides in California and would like to take a class at Aims, please contact stateauth@aims.edu.

Colorado students (and those in the states listed below that have reciprocity with Colorado) who have not reached a satisfactory resolution upon completion of the institutional grievance process may file a complaint with the Colorado Department of Higher Education.

Students outside of Colorado may also file a complaint with the State Portal Entity where they are located.
