Professional Background
Since graduating with my master’s degree in Spanish, I have been teaching Spanish courses for Aims Community College and University of Northern Colorado. I worked several years with international students at UNC, I developed several Spanish online courses with Quality Matters review and I supervise undergraduate student teachers of Spanish at UNC.
I have presented at conferences nationwide and internationally. I have published articles on college students' attitudes towards applications (apps) for creating videos in online Spanish courses.
Currently, I am working on my proposal to finish my PhD. My research focuses on improving Spanish online courses, exploring social learning theory framework and how to incorporate apps into online courses. My main goal is to keep students engaged and increase speaking/talking interaction. I also write a personal blog where I cover some of these and other subjects.
Personal Interests
I am from Hernandarias, Paraguay which is right next to Brazil, thus allowing me to learn Portuguese on top of my two native languages: Spanish and Guarani. I love learning new languages, cultures, history and visiting new places. Throughout the course of my life, I have traveled and lived in many countries. Currently, I spend as much time as I can with my grandson and dog.
