Professional Background
Katrina has been a Registered Nurse since 1993. She moved to Colorado to join the U.S. Army and that was the beginning of her nursing career. Her professional clinical experiences include medical-surgical nursing, PACU, labor & delivery, and postpartum.
She ventured into nursing education in 2003 at Aims Community College and spent her first three years teaching in the inaugural PN and ADN programs. She spent the next 15 years teaching at the University of Northern Colorado and just recently returned to Aims as the Director of Nursing Education Programs. Nursing education is absolutely her passion!
Current Interests
In the past two decades, she has taught almost every area of nursing, but her favorites are pathophysiology and pharmacology. When she is able to watch the “lightbulb” come on for students, it confirms that this is where she is meant to be. She also enjoys advising students as they progress through the program and helping to ensure the process is as fluid as possible.
