About the Show
“Into the Woods” represents ACT’s most ambitious endeavor to date, featuring a cast of 30 performers and an expanded creative team. Benjamin Kessler is ACT’s artistic director and serves as the theater faculty member at Aims. Music direction is led by Nicholas Gilmore, director of the Greeley Trans Choir. Sandy Myers, Aims physical education and dance instructor, crafts the show’s choreography.
Kessler is eager for people to see the show. “We have an incredibly dedicated cast of actors who have been rehearsing for months to bring this story to life,” he said. This includes learning intricate musical numbers, complex choreography, and deep character work. “They’ve put in the time, the energy, and the passion to make this something truly special.”
In addition to the large cast, the production crew has many more tech positions and stagehands than ever before — thus leading to more detailed costumes, impressive sets, and enhanced lighting design. “This is a massive production, with a lot of moving parts,” Kessler said. “It just shows how much goes into this performance.”
The production showcases work from across Aims — including contributions from the welding, construction, communications media, physical education and music departments — highlighting the institution’s commitment to integrative learning and community engagement. “This isn’t just about the theater students. Welding students get hands-on experience, construction students see their work in action, and media students design sound. It’s real-world learning through an artistic lens.”
This production partners with Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and families in Weld County. This collaboration raises awareness and support for the organization’s vital work. “I regularly talk about the connectivity and the community that theater brings,” Kessler said. “It’s one way we can give back and spread awareness about amazing partners doing awesome things.”
