Join us for this exciting opportunity to view film work by veteran Aims students and other veterans in the greater Aims community. The Patton Veteran Film Project is a film-based workshop that invites professionals in the film industry to work with local military veterans in an intensive three-day workshop. The project uses collaborative filmmaking as a therapeutic pathway for veterans coping with post-traumatic and other service-related stress. Participation in the project has been shown to validate veterans’ service accomplishments, reduce social isolation, and strengthen family, community and professional bonds.
Normal Isn’t Real Film Screening and Q&A |February 25 | 5:30-8:30 p.m. | Welcome Center Auditorium | Greeley Campus
Normal Isn’t Real: Succeeding with Learning Disabilities & ADHD features four successful young adults sharing their stories of coming to terms with their LD and ADHD issues. These candid portraits take the viewer into the subjects’ daily lives, showcasing their talents, venting their frustrations, and employing the strategies they use to manage their challenges and utilize their strengths. They come from diverse backgrounds, and their journeys are as unique and varied as the careers they have developed. They have all become experts on themselves and what they need to succeed. A reception with light refreshments will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the film screening will start at 6 p.m. with a panel discussion to follow. Leading the Q&A is Gail Suitor, to provide expert commentary that promises to inspire change and deepen attendees’ appreciation for neurodiversity. Her presence at the panel will galvanize a transformative conversation, equipping participants to champion neurodiverse inclusion in their respective spheres.
