Aims offers six construction certificates covering different aspects of building construction and systems oversight, including a carpentry certificate and a green and sustainable building certificate.

These certificates can also serve as a starting point to begin an associate degree in construction management program at Aims. 

Basic Structural Properties Certificate

This construction management certificate program teaches you mathematical principles and applications in construction. Gain skills in technical mathematics and material statics and strengths.

Basics of Construction Management Certificate

Gain skills to prepare for work as a construction manager. Study construction project management principles, including project tracking and control methods and budget and cost analysis and learn various construction project scheduling methods.

Basics of Construction Methods Certificate

Learn basic methods of construction management. Gain skills in building materials, construction techniques, blueprint reading, construction equipment, and basic construction management and scheduling principles.

Construction Fundamentals Certificate

Gain basic knowledge of how to read and interpret blueprints while becoming familiar with different types of building materials and construction techniques. Topics include a study of soils, concrete, brick, masonry, steel, timber, and plastics and a study of types of building structural systems.

Project Estimating Certificate

Gain skills in blueprint reading and cost analysis related to construction management. Learn how to interpret blueprints and other building trades and architecture documents and study estimating techniques used to verify the cost and time requirements for building construction projects.

Green/Sustainable Building Certificate

Learn about construction management in the fields of renewable and sustainable design and construction. Study solar, geothermal and wind renewable energy construction, LEED certification, passive thermal architecture, super insulation and tight envelopes.

Basics of Carpentry Certificate

Build knowledge and skills to help you find an entry-level job in the construction industry. Gain skills including carpentry for construction sites, safety, and using hand and power tools.

Carpentry Certificate

Learn a wide range of carpentry and construction methods with this comprehensive certificate. Students will learn proper installation techniques as well as how to use tools, read blueprints and more.

Introduction to Carpentry Certificate

Students receive an introduction to construction work for all crafts. This will give students a general overview of carpentry methods as they prepare for jobs in carpentry and construction.

Carpentry Applications Certificate

Students complete a Construction Lab Clinical which will provide hands-on training that continues to build upon the principles learned within the construction discipline.

Carpentry Materials and Safety Certificate

Students learn hands-on carpentry techniques including foundation, roofing and framing. Students will also earn their "10-hour safety card" with OSHA approved safety instruction.

Carpentry Renovation and Finishing Certificate

Students learn techniques to renovate existing residential structures as well as other finishing methods such as window, door and floor installation.
