Professional Background
My art-related experience includes twenty-two years of professional visual arts teaching and a public exhibition history of my own art spanning over thirty years. During my career as an art educator, I have taught a variety of visual art courses in different capacities and worked with a range of diverse learners. My experience as an artist and art teacher has allowed me to develop a broad ranging understanding of art production approaches, art related concepts and art historical content. Over time I have cultivated an array of approaches for designing and implementing visual art curriculum in the interest of promoting the growth of learners. I have taught art classes though various instructional delivery approaches including traditional in-person instruction, synchronous remote online instruction and asynchronous online instruction. Moreover, teaching at both secondary and post-secondary levels has provided me with a broadened perspective of how the vertical alignment of curriculum relates to the varied learning paths of individual learners.
Personal Interests
In my upbringing I was taught the value of family, civility, equity, service, and education. In addition, I was born into a family that valued art and from an early age I was encouraged to explore my interest in art making. Since my youth art has been something that has enriched my life and something that I have been able to share in the interest of enriching the lives of others.
