The Gateway Building is a 38,000-square-foot building that offers general education and degree and certificate classes for the Aviation, Criminal Justice, and Fire Science programs. This facility also features aviation and UAS (drone) simulators and an arrest and control room for law enforcement programs. See a list of all academic programs below.

Air Traffic Controller

Associate of Applied Science
Jump start your air traffic career learning air traffic control language and procedures in the classroom. Take what you've learned into the state-of-the-art simulation lab at Aims, building your skills with hands-on experience using radar and non-radar simulators.

Criminal Justice

Associate of Applied Science
Gain interdisciplinary knowledge of law and social justice while developing a deeper understanding of the ethical behaviors demanded by the multi-faceted fields of employment within criminal justice. This includes the areas of corrections, juvenile justice, law enforcement, forensics, social services, victim advocacy, and the private sector.

Fire Science

Gain the skills tested for Firefighter I and II certification and hazardous materials (hazmat) training along with driving, hydraulics, health and instructional methodologies. Learn how to anticipate fire behavior, analyze conditions and determine the safest course of action, hone quick thinking and effective response and make fire service a more valuable community resource.

General Aviation Pilot

Get experience in private pilot flight training and instrument rating, which teaches you to fly in more difficult weather conditions. Learn the fundamentals of commercial small aircraft or multi-engine aircraft flight and build the communication and professional skills that will help you launch your career in aviation.

Police Studies

Working as a police officer requires honesty and integrity when working with the public and conducting investigations. The Aims Police studies program teaches you how to deal with the challenges and highlights of police work as you undergo rigorous physical and academic training to prepare for the Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) exam.

Professional Pilot

Build your pilot career with private pilot ground and flight training, instrument rating, which teaches you to fly in more difficult weather conditions and commercial ground and flight training on small and multi-engine aircraft. Your core and elective classes help build communication and other professional skills that help prepare you to enter the job market.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Sciences

Associate of Applied Science
Learn best practices, maneuvers, maintenance, and procedures for safe UAS operation and data collection for fixed-wing and rotary-wing drones using state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Prepares to take the FAA Part 107 Small Unmanned Aerial Systems certification exam that allows you to earn a Part 107 commercial Remote Pilot Certificate.
