Denver Post Names Aims Community College a Winner of the State of Colorado Top Workplaces 2024 Award
“Being recognized as a Top Workplace, for the fourth time, is a reflection of our collective commitment to creating an environment where employees feel valued, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential,” said Dr. Leah L. Bornstein, Aims Community College CEO and president.
This list is based solely on employee feedback from a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage LLC. The confidential survey uniquely measures the employee experience and its component themes, including employees feeling respected and supported, enabled to grow, and empowered to execute, to name a few.
“Aims is an employer of choice because of our culture of caring for people,” said Marilyn Schock, chair of the Aims Board of Trustees. “As a board member, it motivates me to continue investing in our employees and the principles that have gotten us this far.”
At Aims, the work environment thrives on collaboration, with efforts rooted in tangible community benefits. The culture is community-oriented, prioritizing inclusivity and enriching both students' and employees' lives. Aims supports its staff in their professional journeys, offering numerous development opportunities. The institution also focuses on enhancing learning and work spaces through thoughtful updates in technology and facilities, thereby streamlining and elevating the work of its employees.
Work-life balance is achieved by a generous vacation and sick leave package in addition to 17 paid holidays and three personal days each year. Full-time staff and administrators work four nine-hour days in summer, with every Friday off from the end of May to the beginning of August.
The college has a generous employee assistance program, which provides counseling through Talkspace and more. These help employees identify and solve personal problems that affect their work, health, and well-being. This could apply to issues such as stress, mental health and substance abuse, as well as financial, legal, and relationship problems. Aims also supports a robust employee recognition program where employees can recognize colleagues and celebrate success.
