Inaugural Construction 3D Printing Online Course Begins August 5
The Introduction to 3D Concrete Printing course developed by Alquist 3D, a leading construction 3D printing technology company, and Aims Community College will be available August 5.
This innovative course is a first step to pursuing job opportunities in the rapidly expanding field of 3D-printed homes and infrastructure.
This is one of the first formal construction 3D printing courses offered in the U.S. “What we're doing at Aims is the first of its kind,” said Patrick Callahan, CEO of Alquist 3D. “We have schools from all over the country asking to do a very similar thing to what we're doing here at Aims.”
Curriculum Highlights: From Theory to Application
The fully online, four-module, 30-hour certificate course is self-paced and open to anyone interested in learning more. The modest $250 tuition makes entry-level 3D-printing education affordable for anyone interested in the emerging industry. The course equips students with essential knowledge about 3D printing technology and carbon-neutral material. Topics covered in this course include:
- Permitting, safety and processes on job sites
- How 3D concrete printing and traditional construction work together
- The origins and history of 3D construction printing
- Fundamentals of 3D construction technology
- Types of 3D printers and their applications
- Types of printing materials used for construction
- Material delivery systems for construction
Headquarters Relocation and Education Strategy
Alquist 3D moved its company to Greeley last fall. Establishing an educational partnership with Aims played a crucial role in facilitating this move. Aims and Alquist 3D plan to grow and expand the curriculum in the future. This online course is the first step in formalizing workforce development and training in 3D construction and infrastructure printing.
