Earn a Fire Academy Certificate at Aims

Firefighting is more than a career; it’s a challenging and exciting profession where you can make a real difference in people’s lives, whether responding to fires, administering first aid or inspecting for fire hazards. Train with a close-knit community of dedicated, driven experts in the Aims Fire Academy. In one semester of day or night classes, you can become certified to work as a firefighter in Colorado.

Fire departments set high standards in order to save lives. You’ll be challenged to demonstrate peak physical capabilities along with a drive to be the best. Preventing and putting out fires involves carrying heavy gear in tough conditions while working as a team and keeping a cool head.

Based at the state-of-the-art Public Safety Institute on the Windsor Campus, Aims has everything you need to prepare for a career in fire. Aims is the home to the only climate-controlled Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) training and testing center in the state of Colorado. This aptitude test is required to enroll in the Aims Fire Academy and to work as a firefighter.

In just 15 weeks, you'll get 45 hours of classroom work and 135 hours of hands-on training to prepare you for a career in fire service. The Fire Academy will prepare you to take your first step in a firefighting career and pass the Firefighter I and Hazmat Colorado practical certification examinations
